My cat got attacked by two dogs and his behaviour has changed

Hi. Two dogs got into my garden yesterday and unfourtunately they killed one of my cats and a few of the neighbours cats aswell. They also chased my other cat but luckily he was agile enough to get away from them but he is really shaken up still. he is spending a lot of time off the ground and has only been outside breifely this morning. he is very much an outside cat and tends to spend most the day outside. He is not off his food. He still seems shaken up and I don't want him to spend all is time inside due to fear. We have two dogs aswell which he has always got on with and often curls up and sleeps next to them. he has shown no fear of them but is keeping his distance and jumps if they move whilst his back is turned. Is he likely to return to his normal habbits on his own?
thanks

yes relax and leave him to recover. Any further unnecessary stress should be avoided. The cat is not able to project so lives in the present and consequently does not have the fear of the future associated with imagination as we do. Something to do with animals not having the part of the brain that we use subconsciously to do that!
