My cat is getting an increasingly smelly problem....

Hi,
My cat is going to be 12 in June so he is getting on the older side now. For just over a week now he has been passing wind nearly every 15 mins to half an hour, we know this because it smell really very bad. I know animals do, like us, pass wind and he has before - but very rarely. Now its hard to sit with him or have him one your lap because its such a bad smell. I was wondering if there may be any kind of problem that could be inducing this?

depends on how long this has been going on and what he has been eating . If he has found a tin of baked beans in someones trash recently and it is only since then then keeping him in for a day or 3 will solve the problem. If this does not have any effect then get him looked at by a vet on Monday as there may well be a digestive problem brewing.
It may turn out to be just a reflection of his age and he may need to be maintained on bland food or add a few charcoal granules to his diet.
Do also check that his worming is up to date.
