Yellow spots in dogs stool

My dog has had very soft to very runny stools for the last few days. I have tried bunding him up on chicken with rice or egg but nothings working. I think I hav estrted to notice very small yellow spots in his stool but I am unsure hwt this is (if anything). Anyone have any clues?

Just noticed poor spelling. Should slow down on the typing.
I have noticed that his stools vary in color, ranging from yellowish to a rich red color (but its not blood). I cant find anything on the net that resembles what this could be.
Stuart do you have any ideas?

Doesn't seem like Stuart or the very knowledgable chicco are around at the moment.

If this happened to mine I would starve him for 12-24 hours unless he'd lost loads of weight already. and then feed the bland diet of rice, chicken and maybe egg, little and often at first and then building it up to normal meals over a couple of days. Canned tuna in spring water with rice is also a good alternative and my firends in kennels swear by it for upset tums.

If it doesn't work, consult your vet. Don't let it go on for too long.

If it does work, gradually mix in the normal diet again, so it doesn't upset the tum again.

I am an avid poo watcher, and you will get yellowy poos when you're feeding on rice and chicken.

Thanks for the advice. I have phoned my vets before I saw your message. They have advised to feed him white fish for a few days and it should pass as they think it is just an upset tummy. If not I think I will take a trip to the vets as it has been 5 days already.
Thanks again for your help. May try thisif the fish doesnt work.

Hiya.
Is he totally up to date with his wormers.

Also if this fish doesn't work soon, then take a sample of the poops. An upset tummy shouldn't last for 5 days. He may need anti-biotics to clear it.

There is a syringe type medicine you can get from the vets that can be given to help stop the runs, however you still need to know the cause of it.

Sorry for the delay. I have been very busy lately. If he still has the runs starve him. Ie no food of any sort for 24 hours. Make up a solution of 1tablespoonful of GLUCOSE and 1 teaspoonful of SALT to 1 PINT OF WATER and allow free access to this as long as he is not being sick.
If the dog still has diarrhoesa after 36 hours of NO FOOD then it shouild be taken to the vet. If at any time the dog becomes unresponsive to normal stimuli or its gums feel sticky then it should receive immediate veterinary attention.
Off to work now !! (well now ish)
I suspect that CHICCO is refering to pro-kolin Protexin. I am reluctant to use anyhting that may artificailly bind up the bowel before I have examined the dog after all it has diarrhoea to get rid of things in its bowel that are causing it problems. I do prescibe prokolin frequently as the probiotics do seem to be of benefit.

Thanks guys. I ended up taking him to the vet yesterday as it seemed to be getting worse by the afternoon (His stools had no form what so ever). They think it is just a tummy upset so have given him Promax oral paste in the syringe for 2 days and he is also on Delvoprim tablets for 1 week. Only allowed to give him fish and no other food or treats (poor boy), hopefully this will work. I will keep you updated.
Thanks Again for the advice.

Thought I would give you an update on Paisleys progress. Hes been on the pills for 1 week and had the paste for 2 days last weekend. He wasnt getting any better until yesterday his stools looked to be a little bit firmer. Hes been on fish until mid week, then fish with dry biscuits until yesterday. Last night and today he went back onto his normal tinned food (which he has been on since he was 8 months old) and tonight I have noticed its started to get runny again. He finished his pillss today so am going to monitor him for the next few days and if not any better then I will be atking him back to the vets.
Do you have any idea of what else it could be? His worming is up to date but I forgot to flea him on 10th of this month and only done it yesterday after I found a tick in the crease of

Although he has been on the tinned since 8 months, it still looks as if it could be that causing it.

Either that or there is a bacteria in the gut that the medication has only helped with but not cleared completely.

I would say take him back off the tinned immediately to see if there is any improvement, because if not, it could be he needs expensive stool sample tests to see which bacteria/whatever is causing the problem.

Taking him off the tinned food is the cheaper option to start with.
