Bleeding after season

Lucy seemed to end her 3 week season cycle on the 12th July but yesterday (27th July) i noticed that she was taking an awfully long time to pass urine. When I checked the urine there seemed to be blood in it and on further inspection of her vulva there was blood on it and it was not like a discharge but dark red. When I took her for a walk today she was stopping all the time to pass urine, again taking her time and when I checked what little urine there was it did have blood in it. She seems absolutely fine in herself, she's eating and drinking and is not lethargic in anyway. Can anyone clarify whether this is just an extension of her season?

I am not a vet but you are describing the classic symptoms of a urinary tract infection (UTI) for which she will need antibiotics.

They are very susceptible getting a UTI after a season and this is not unusual. I think the swelling of the vulva doesn't help and they seem to pick up all germs.

This is going to be a little like a cystitis in us so she is going to feel quite uncomfortable.

Obviously you need to catch this asap before it goes as far as the kidneys.
