Vomiting and Diarrhea,bloodwork done..

Hello
I'm really concerned about Gino, for the past 6 weeks hes been vomiting, firstly it started once a week for the first 3 weeks, and slowly over time its increased and its now to the point that he cant keep ANY food down whatsoever, the past 2 weeks he has also started with Diarrhea which is now like water (sorry). We took him to the vets a couple of weeks ago to which they ran bloodwork, everything was within normal limits except his liver which was slightly raised but nothing overly, vet said to come back in 4 weeks for another test. But hes decling all the time so we're taking him back on monday, apart from the bloodwork is there anything else you can suggest we should get him checked for?? Also and please dont think i'm nuts but we lost both his lifelong friends last year (Feb and July) could this be him pining?? Although if i'm honest i dont think so but..........thoughts anyone??

First of all I do not think for a moment that you are nuts. What you suggest re the pining is quite possible but rare and is unlikely to cause diarrhoea or vomiting.
Undoubtedly you need to get him back to the vets soon how soon one could only accurately assess by examining him. The concerns are obviously cancer affecting the bowel or other internal organs a chronic absorption problem or some form of foreign body.
My 'Gun ho' cheapest and quickest approach would be to have a really good feel at his tummy under sedation or even anaesthesia and then open him up and pray that there is something in there I could do something about with a reasonable chance of improving his lot. There is however a distinct chance that there may be something that is progressive and inoperable in which case you would need to be prepared for him to be helped on his way to join his mates. The third and least likely outcome would be that nothing at all is found in which case the prayers may need reinforcement.

the other approach is more blood tests ultrasound scans x rays barium studies ct or MRI scans time and money consuming!
You are the owner and he is your dog and you are paying the bills so you have every right to be involved in the decision making process contact the vet first thing Monday morning and as for some case discussion time.
In the mean time check that his gums are pink silky and not in any way tacky. Use solution of 1 tablespoonful of glucose 1 teaspoonful of salt in each pint of water or a proprietary fluid replacement such as lectade to keep him hydrated.
Any suggestion of paleness or stickyness to the gums then get him in tonight.

Thankyou so much for your quick response Stuart,we took him back to the vets who was quite alarmed at his rapid weight loss in a couple of weeks and he had a xray and ultrasound done to which they've found that he has thickened stomach lining(4 times the thickness it should be)They think its either IMD or Cancer and at the moment we are trying him on steroids and cerina(sp),we've bought him some recovery food to try him on and since yesterday he has kept down 1 can (no vomiting so far) The vets were very surprise3d he wasnt dehydrated and we you to thank for that (we did as you suggested :))
Unfortuantly our vet has only seen IMD twice (once in a cat and only in much younger animals) so didnt really have much info on what we can do to help him(if it is indeed IMD) Can you give me any more info on IMD also any info if it IS cancer what we should be looking out for??
Many MANY thanks
