Shivering sor no reason.

Hi, my old(ish) Alsatian cross has started shivering for no reason in the middle of the day. For the past two days at between 11-12 O'clock she has started to shiver. It's as if she's cold or scared but there is nothing happening outside/ inside that's different. The house is warm all doors closed and no drafts. It happens when she exhales. She is on metacam once a day, every day. She stops after a while but it's just a bit strange. Could it be low sugar levels?
She has regular checkups and although she is riddled with arthritis (back, elbows, hips etc) she is very healthy for her age and full of life and eating and drinking normally.
Any ideas?
Thanks :) xx

It could be low sugar which to a certain extent would be dependent on when you last fed her caused by a mild postprandial hypoglycaemia. this is caused by the higher levels of insulin circulating in response to the increased glucose levels in the blood as a result of absorption from the digested food.
Increasing the fibre levels in the food and reducing the rusk/biscuit may help by reducing the glucose surge and delaying the absorption through increased bulk. Using a specialised 'senior' diet will be the easy way to do this.
I am inclined not to worry about it too much about this as long as her food and water intake is normal and her weight reasonably constant.
