can i give my dog paracetamol

my dog had a run in with a cat at the start of the week and when chasing the cat she thumped her shoulder on the fence and the last 2 days she has been limping, and when i took her to the vets for an opinion they gave her metacalm which is costing me £54 which i dont have as i am unemployed at present, and she must be in pain as she was yelping when vet was examining her, is it safe to give her paracetamol as an ulternative seeing as i cant afford the metacalm?

No you mustn't give her paracetamol or any other human pain killing drug.

I am not understanding the metacam situation in that the £54 would of been for a bottle which you measure out with the syringe for the correct amount for her body weight, however, the bottle would last at least a couple of weeks.

Or are you saying that you refused the bottle of metacam because of the price.. As an unemployed person then maybe you should take her to the RSPCA or PDSA clinics which will cost you less.

To be honest, although we often fall on hard times, keeping a dog like a rottweiler with their never ending expensive vet bills gets near on impossible without a decent income.

I spend £1000's on my rottweilers with one health issue or another so try and get insurance for her.

Metacam is an anti-inflammatory anyway which paracetamol is not.

thanks Chicco agree as ever. Paracetamol is not safe to use in dogs and will have no benefit anyhow.
