Poultry dispatcher

Some time ago I purchased a hand held poultry dispatcher - a device resembling a pair of pliers - in case I needed to cull any of my birds. However - I am worried that this method may not be the kindest way to carry out the deed. Can you advise? is there a kinder way to cull old / sick birds?

I have to say that I have no experience of the dispatcher you mention in practice. I would suggest that you ask a local gamekeeper or similar to show you how to do the job in the taditional way involving rapid disclocation of the neck. As far as I am aware this is still considered an acceptable method of carrying out this sometime necessary duty.

we use a 'killing cone' for our birds, we h=made ours, but you can buy different sizes for bantams all the way to turkeys on eBay
