Rabbit who died quickly

Hi there

I just want some advice on my 2 1/2 year old dwarf lop male rabbit who died the other day. He was in excellent health and was absolutely fine then the next minute he appeared slightly glazed when he was lying down. He came out of it but kept fidgetting like he had an upset stomach. I wasn't aware of any paralysis or breathing problems. Then he was dead within 12 hours - the only thing I noticed was that he had bled from his nose. I didn't realise it was so serious or I would have taken him to the vet.

Can you advise me what the likely cause of death was? And if I had got him to a vet sooner so you think he could have been saved?

It sounds likely that the little fella had an acute problem either in his brain or with his circulation. There may have been some medication that could have incresed his chances of survival either by reducing the infflamation in the brain or supporting his heart function. Is it possible that the bleeeding from the nose was the result of some form of trauma?

Thanks for your response. I wondered if it was something brain related like a stroke or something. I was not aware of any bleeding from the nose until after death. Nor aware of any trauma other than he strained to jump out of a box he was playing in - but he could have had a trauma I wasn't aware of whilst he was playing at the other end of the room. Or could it be from an earlier trauma but only affected him at that moment?
