Hamsters has a cut but it's healing but looks quite bad.

I did one of these yesterday but got no reply after I asked a further question. My hamster has a gash that bled and looked gross and I had no idea how it got there. This was yesterday and over night it has healed up slightly. It looks like when you scrape your self and a scab forms and looks dry, kinda gross and red. So I'm pretty sure he's fine. Looks just like a human scab that goes after a few days. It hasn't affected his behaviour or appetite, in fact he seems more active than before and always comes out to play when he hears me. So please can I have an updated answer to know if he is getting better, thank you.

I hope he is continuing to do well

Yes he is absolutely fine. It has got much smaller and is healing up. He is still very active and hasn't lost appetite. It's been 5 days since he got it so I think it will be gone completely in a week or so. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the feedback. Glad he is ok.
Did you ever find out how it may have happened?

No I didn't and I still have no idea how it got there. But it doesn't matter as long as he's okay which he is so thanks for all the help!

Call me old fashioned which I know I am but my approach would be exploratory laparotomy ie open her up and have a look and hope I could remove it and improve her situation. If I could then do it there and then and if not then put her to sleep whilst she was under the anaesthetic m. The boost taken will help determine the decision at that stage

Um was that supposed to go somewhere else?
