Is Germolene Safe
Is it safe to use Germolene antiseptic cream on a 6 week old kitten? This is for a sore bald patch of skin on her chest which is weeping.
The active ingredients of the cream are:
Phenol Ph Eur.1.2% and Chlorhexidine Gluconate solution BP equivalent to Chlorhexidine Gluconate 0.25%
Also contains: Cetostearate alcohol, light liquid paraffin, polyoxyethylene stearyl ethers, colours (E124 and E110), dimethicone, methyl salicylate and water.

The short answer is no.
Bathe the wound with Salt water 1 tablespoonful salt to 1 pint water. Then rinse and dry well. If it is not improving in 24 hours then get her to a vet.
Try to restrict her licking of the wound which may involve fashioning some sort of collar as a funnel over her head. A joughurt pot with the bottom cut out or something similar often will suffice

No! Do NOT use Germolene Antiseptic Cream on your cat, kitten, dog, puppy or rabbit!! Phenol is highly toxic to pets and other animals!
